The Zojirushi Fresh Brew coffee maker boasts a number of unique features. It has a double wall stainless steel vacuum insulated thermal carafe. While others may have thermal carafes, and a few are even stainless steel, it is rare to find one with vacuum insulation - the best available. The thermal carafe will keep the coffee hot for many hours with no reheating to burn the coffee as with a glass carafe machine. The large capacity is dubbed as 10 cups or 1.5 liters. Now keep in mind, for many other manufacturers, 1.5 liters is considered a 12 cup coffee maker. But Zojirushi conservatively rates the Fresh Brew at 10 cups. The Zojirushi coffee maker also brews nice hot coffee for better extraction and better taste. The brew through lid of the carafe helps keep the coffee hot and eliminates an extra step of changing the lid. The Electric timer clock module has a preset function so you can set it the night before and wake to freshly brewed coffee in the morning. The auto shut-off provides added safety. The EC-BD15BA uses a cone shaped filter. We strongly recommend one of the available permanent gold tone filters for use with this machine (sold separately).
